A Prince

And so… I am a boy. 

Contrary to what Mommy and Daddy hoped for having a baby girl, I displayed my goods to Mommy, Lola and Dr Ng during the ultrasound last 12 November.

Lola was very happy. She had hoped for and wanted another boy to be my older brother Hendrik’s playmate and best friend. 

Mommy was fine with it. In fact, she had a gut-feeling that she’s carrying another prince inside her, but never dismissed the hope of having a princess. 

Daddy was smiling and laughing when he saw my weenie in the ultrasound print out Mommy brought home from the clinic. 

I am glad my family wholeheartedly accepted me. I am glad they were happy and there was no trace of disappointment when I revealed my sex to them despite my parent’s hope of having a girl this time. 

I am also glad that Hendrik always kiss me and tells me that he loves me. I can hear him when he whispers to me on Mommy’s tummy. And I am more delighted when I hear him say my name which Mommy already planned for me.  =)

GERD or Expecting?

Mommy started feeling sick first thing in the morning of 16 August 2012. She thought it was because of the very heavy dinner and the glass of wine she took the previous night at the Le Bistrot (French resto) with Daddy and Tita Claire. She also felt that it was due to her lack / little sleep the previous night when my soon-to-be brother, Hendrik, kept her awake because he was suffering from ear pain. Mommy and Daddy took Hendrik to Dr Lim that day and found out that he had an infection in the ear due to clogged nose.

Mommy still felt sick even after taking medications for upset stomach, paracetamol and some rest. On the fourth day of still having the same feeling, Mommy went to a nearby clinic and consulted her condition. The young taciturn doctor diagnosed that she had GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease). The doctor said that Mommy can look it up on the internet and recommended that she undergo endoscopy. He even wrote a recommendation letter for endoscopy that cost $7.00 in the bill!

Mommy went to Mt Alvernia for another opinion. This time the thought came to her that she might be pregnant as she has the same signs and symptoms when she was pregnant with Hendrik, but dismissed the idea because she knew she was not. Daddy also confirmed that she was not. Besides, GERD has also the same symptoms. The doctor at Mt Alvernia gave Mommy another set of medications and assured her that they will work.

After finishing the medications religiously, Mommy just cannot shake off the illness. She decided to go for a pregnancy test. The day that she decided to buy one from the pharmacy Daddy texted her that he already bought one for her. And so she did the test…

~ 28 Aug 2012 test ~

Whoallah!!! Mommy saw 2 purple lines in less than a minute after putting drops of her urine into the kit. Daddy was also surprised when she broke the news to him. Mommy decided that she will repeat the test after 3 days…

~ 31 August 2012 test ~

And nothing has changed! 2 purple lines show that Mommy is pregnant with me! How far, she doesn’t know. Then she called Dr Ng’s Tanjong Katong clinic for an appointment the next day.
