Hello World!

Three (3) weeks ago, I stepped into this big wide world.

I was delivered via LS Caesarian Section on 05 April 2013 at 1248 hours at Mount Alvernia Hospital (Singapore). I was 2980 grams heavy and 53 cm long.

~ well, hello there! ~

Mommy's OB, Dr Ng, wasn't able to do the operation as she was not feeling well that day, so she arranged for another colleague of hers to take care of Mommy and me. At first, Dr Ng asked if we wanted to move my delivery by Monday (08 Apr 2013) so that she can attend herself. But, we cannot wait anymore. Mommy, Daddy and Hendrik wanted to see me already. And so, Dr Dolly Wee operated on Mommy. We read some reviews about this Dr Dolly Wee on our way to the hospital, and we were quite happy with what we read as they were all positive reviews.

Mommy and I stayed in the hospital for 3 days. Family and friends visited and brought presents for us (well, for me mostly ^_^). Apart from Daddy who was with us in the hospital everyday from morning until evening, Hendrik also visited every afternoon. He is a very caring and sweet brother.

Now, I am spending my days and nights at home sleeping most of the time and Mommy breastfeeds me every 2-4 hours.

Nanny Issues

Mommy and I are on our 36th week now. Almost everything is ready for my arrival.

There is one important thing that my family is trying to resolve though – my soon-to-be nanny. Lola will be staying with us until maybe only a week after I come out, and then she needs to be back in the Philippines. She also has things to do and attend there. Actually, Lola’s return to the Philippines has been delayed for 3 months now. I am sorry about it, but Mommy and Daddy are trying their bests to find someone to look after me and my brother while Mommy and Daddy are at work. Mommy will be on maternity leave for 2 months when she has given birth to me, but she also needs help when Lola is not around; more so when she goes back to work after her leave.
My family has encountered a couple of difficulties in their efforts to look for Lola’s replacement in looking after my brother and eventually, me. We tried relatives but to no avail. We had tried Mommy’s contacts who have signified their interests, but would only commit after they know the result / outcome of something that was of priority to them. It was like there were conflicts of interests and that looking after my brother and me was not their main concern. We had also tried a friend’s relative to the point that Mommy and Daddy shouldered the expenses needed for processing of her passport so she can travel to Singapore. We had even waited for almost 2 months for the passport to be released as [we were told that] express or rush passport processing which only takes a week was not available at that time. The reason being was the passport-making machine was spoiled. Now that the passport has been released just last week, they had given us another reason to delay their travel to June! This is not good anymore. After all we’ve done – we promptly provided their financial needs just so they can process the passport and we also patiently waited for it to be released – now they are giving us another reason not to travel yet because they failed to check on something important. Mommy and Daddy decided that we don’t wait and count on them anymore as they don’t have a sense of urgency and they don’t feel the magnitude and importance of having someone to help us especially now that Mommy is giving birth to me in April and that Lola needs to be in the Philippines also.
We have contacted another prospect, and we are really hoping it will work out this time. God willing, we are expecting her to be in Singapore next week…

5th Month

Mommy and I are in the middle of our 2nd trimester. Mommy is doing well now. No more morning sickness. No more sensitive smell. She can also eat now without vomiting afterwards or even the feeling of it. She’s also feeling a bit energetic now. She has started taking the bus and train to work. Before, she used to take the cab every morning to work (which is very expensive) because she gets very tired easily.

I am also doing fine. My second trimester screening last week was okay. The results showed that Mommy had a low-lying placenta, but when we had our regular check-up with Dr Ng last Saturday, she said that it’s not low-lying anymore. She was quite happy with how Mommy and I are both doing. She added that as I grow bigger, the placenta will move up, so nothing to worry about. Mommy and I will still be careful especially that we will be travelling to Bangkok by the end of this month for our regular family overseas trip.

My movements are also getting noticeable by Mommy. Hendrik also tried to feel my movements. One time, Mommy held his hand and placed it on her belly. I tried my best to make contact with him and I succeeded! Hendrik felt my movements, but he doesn’t want to feel it again. He was quite afraid. =) Maybe later on when my movements are very distinct and strong, he won’t be afraid anymore.

A Prince

And so… I am a boy.

Contrary to what Mommy and Daddy hoped for having a baby girl, I displayed my goods to Mommy, Lola and Dr Ng during the ultrasound last 12 November.

Lola was very happy. She had hoped for and wanted another boy to be my older brother Hendrik’s playmate and best friend.

Mommy was fine with it. In fact, she had a gut-feeling that she’s carrying another prince inside her, but never dismissed the hope of having a princess.

Daddy was smiling and laughing when he saw my weenie in the ultrasound print out Mommy brought home from the clinic.

I am glad my family wholeheartedly accepted me. I am glad they were happy and there was no trace of disappointment when I revealed my sex to them despite my parent’s hope of having a girl this time.

I am also glad that Hendrik always kiss me and tells me that he loves me. I can hear him when he whispers to me on Mommy’s tummy. And I am more delighted when I hear him say my name which Mommy already planned for me.  =)

Daily Breakfast With Daddy

Mommy and I always enjoy our daily breakfast with Daddy. Since Mommy knew that I am inside her, she would ask Daddy to prepare food for her before she goes to work. This is to prevent her from fainting on her way to work and also to load up some energy to begin her day.

On weekdays, Daddy would set his alarm ahead of his usual waking up time to prepare breakfast for us. Without fail, our daily morning serving includes steamed rice and fried sunny-side-up egg. In addition, we would also have ham or bacon or luncheon meat on the side; and a cup of warm milo which Mommy and I really like. Daddy would also prepare snacks for Mommy to bring to work. This includes fruits and some carbs and sweets.

On weekends, Mommy would wake up Daddy in the morning as soon as she feels the hunger pangs. At night time also when Mommy needs something to munch and / or thirsty, we would always disturb Daddy to fulfill our demands. We thank Daddy big time for always being supportive, considerate, and accommodating to our requests.

As for our daily breakfast with Daddy, we say that it is our favorite meal of the day!

Remainder of the 1st Trimester

So many things have transpired since I last checked-in here on blogspot. As what is expected, I’ve been very busy causing Mommy to drain her energy and not to be in a good disposition to blog. Here’s some of what has taken place for more than a month since my last blog entry.

First – Mommy’s second sighting of me was made 1 week earlier (15 September) than planned as Mommy needed to see Dr Ng because of excessive vomiting. Poor Mommy wasn’t able to take anything, even water. She would vomit not only once or twice a day, but a couple of times making her very weak and very hungry. Dr Ng gave her medication to ease the vomiting and also issued a medical certificate (MC) to let her rest and stay at home for 1 week.

Second – My existence was informally announced ahead of time also. Thanks to Lola for telling Tita Leomie during one of their conversations at home when Mommy was on her 10th week with me. Hendrik was also told after.

Third – I had my first trimester screening 2 weeks ago at the National University Hospital (NUH). Dr Ng informed Mommy and Daddy last Saturday during the check-up at the clinic that the result was very fine.  =)

I will be on my 2nd trimester tomorrow and I hope Mommy will feel way better soon…
