First Christmas

My family’s 2013 Christmas is more special this year because they have an adorable and delightful addition to the brood – yours truly... =D

 - Daddy Joseph, big bother Hendrik, me and Mommy Feona -

Mommy let me sleep at around 9pm on the eve of Christmas Day with the intention of waking me up at 12:00am for our family’s annual photo shoot and noche buena. But she need not do it because I myself woke up at around midnight. It must have been the extraordinary connection between Mommy and me that made it possible. I didn’t even cry. I just woke up and then a few seconds later I saw Mommy entering the room =) .

After the photo shoot and the delish food that my family and our friends enjoyed for noche buena, Ate Hazel sent me back to the bedroom and made me sleep again. That was a smooth, good and quick Christmas celebration for me.

7th Month

My 7th month so far is so full of exciting stuff. I can stand up on my crib by myself. I just needed to hold on to the railings and tadaaa!... I am up on my feet. Since I haven’t mastered the art of balancing yet, there is never a time where I don’t fall down and/or hit my face on the crib railings. It’s painful I must say, and I am sure my family do gets the message when I cry. So, they cannot just simply leave me on my crib yet whilst doing other things.

I can also crawl very fast and toss and turn on the bed now. I babble a lot especially when my big brother, Hendrik, talks and plays with me. My brother always makes me laugh. In fact, he’s the one who can effortlessly make me laugh. Sometimes I touch his face and bite his hands because he is so funny.

The most exciting of all is I don’t have to wait for Christmas to wish for my two front teeth. They are already showing at 7 months!

Looking for more of my milestones next month…  =)

6th Month

Mommy had been busy lately that she was not able to update this blog for my 6th month celebration. And I just turned 7 months last Tuesday, so I guess Mommy has more to catch up with her blog entries here.  =)

For my 6th month, we had our usual monthly cake to mark the celebration. We also roamed around Orchard malls in the evening for some shopping. As it was a Saturday, Daddy had a photo walk with Tita Claire that day so we had to wait for him. My brother, Hendrik, was the happiest because he got himself a new set of Lego toy while I was contented sleeping soundly in my stroller, while all the shopping happened.

During my 6th month, I had my third visit to my doctor for immunizations. My next visit would be, hopefully, when I turn 1 year old. To update the numbers, I weighed 6.67 kg and 67 cm tall. I have also become more mobile – I can drag myself effortlessly and can move from one direction to another faster than ever.
- 100% cute -
Towards the end of my 6th month, I began to love standing up although I cannot balance yet. I love it when Mommy or Daddy or Ate Hazel will have me stand up, supporting my armpits and have me “walk” on the floor. I would never fail to show my excitement every time I do this. And I must say, I complain if they put me back on the bed or crib to rest.
And yes, I do smile now. Mommy and Daddy love it when I flash my precious smile because they always think that I am the serious type.  =)

Children's Day 2013

While some fathers would sleep through the night snoring or don’t even bother to move a bit when they hear their child’s cry and/or call and will just wait and leave it to the wife or mother to tend, there are surely a few exceptions – and it definitely includes Joseph. Here’s a snapshot of his thoughts posted on our Facebook page at about 11ish at night on 04 October 2013, which also happened to be Children’s Day:

Absolutely a different and affirmative perspective on seeing and/or doing Daddy duties.

Belated happy Children’s Day to our lovey dovies – Fyodor and Hendrik!

Mommy and Daddy love you heaps.  <3

5th month

A few days after we celebrated my 5th month on 05 September 2013, Mommy saw me rolling over from my back to my tummy to my back again. More than a week later, I started to lift myself up, like having arm push-ups. 3 weeks after, my mobility has improved a lot since I learned to move around by dragging myself to get and reach for Hendrik’s toys and other stuff that interest me. Mommy thinks that next to this is crawling, although I like it very much when Mommy supports my body and try to make me stand up. I think it’s more fun to stand up than crawling, but it is still too early, eh? Mommy also finds it very difficult to give me a bath since I move a lot in the bath tub now, thus splashing the water all over the place and all over Mommy’s shirt. I like warm water very much and I love my bath time! I also look forward to washing my hands and face with warm water when Mommy gets home from work late in the evening.

~ Mac user *_* ~

I also try my best to talk - or more exactly to babble to my family. I babble and sometimes I squeal with delight. I also get excited sometimes and I usually show this by stiffening my arms and legs. I don’t smile and laugh much though. Mommy and Daddy think that I am a serious type. But, I do smile when I am in a good mood, especially in the morning after sleeping through the night. I also smile when Daddy comes home from work. He will usually try very hard and make his best effort to make me smile. I also smile and laugh when Hendrik plays with me. He is a very good brother although I make him cry sometimes because he is afraid of my loud cry. I like to touch Mommy’s and Hendrik’s face when we play. Mommy loves me very much because she doesn’t mind if my saliva gets all over her face and shirt whenever we play or when she is carrying me. I am also being nice to people who greets me in church. I smile and sometimes babble to them. Whenever I am in a good mood, I also let them carry me and play with me.

4th Month

I turned 4 months old last Monday, 05 August 2013. We had our Family Home Evening (FHE) that night and we invited Tita Claire to join us. It was also the first time I was still awake for FHE because I used to be already sleeping at around 8:30 pm.

Mommy gave the lesson during our FHE about some of the things we learn from the scriptures, especially about prayer. Mommy was a bit nervous and emotional because it was the first time she shared the gospel to Tita Claire and she's worried that she might not be able to deliver the message properly because she was conscious and teary-eyed. Tita Claire graced us with a closing prayer.

After FHE, Daddy, Tita Claire and Hendrik took photos of me with my 4th month cake.

I enjoyed my first FHE. It was a great night.

And oh, have I said that I can already roll-over? =P

3rd Month

Since Mommy started going back to work again, we were not able to go out for my 3rd month celebration last 05 July 2013. But it's okay, as long as she loves me I am just fine.

Surprise! They got me a yummy cake...

5.1 / 53

I had my 2nd appointment with my paediatrician, Dr Lim Kwang Hsien, last 12 June 2013 to have my immunization jab at Kinder Clinic, Mount Alvernia Hospital. The shot didn’t hurt much that’s why I only cried a bit.

Just an update on my measurements – at 2 months and 7 days I already weighed 5.106kg (2kg more since I was born).  Mommy is happy with my length at 53 cm. She likes it and hopes that I will have a towering height when I grow up… =)

2nd Month

For my 2nd month, we went to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA, Singapore) in the morning to have my Special Pass for Infants extended so that I can still legally stay in Singapore as a foreigner in the country. After our business with ICA, we went malling at Vivo City. We took the green line MRT from Lavender Station which is next to ICA building to Outram Park Station; then transferred to the purple line from Outram Park Station going to Harbourfront Station where Vivo City is located. All the while, my brother Hendrik looked after me, kept me safe and entertained while having my first train ride.

~ Fyodor's first train ride ~

At Vivo City, we did a bit of shopping. Hendrik bought his favourite “Cars” toys and Mommy bought me some clothes. We also bought my 2nd month cake there.

~ Happy 2nd month Fyodor! ~

Just before heading home late in the afternoon, we lounged at Starbucks and at the same time to wait for the heavy downpour to stop.

Friday 17 May 2013

1st Month

I celebrated my full-month (05 May 2013) in the church. It was special because it was the first time I attended church since I was born. It was more special because I received the Ordinance of Naming and Blessing a Child.

It was customary in the church where I and my family attends, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to bring a newborn to the the elders of the church and bless him in his name. My Daddy led the ordinance together with Bishop David Lee, Brother Jason Lim, Brother Kevin Koh, Brother Arun, Brother Irvin Yew and Brother Michael Ang.

I was given the names FYODOR SIGMUND LISONDRA SEBASTIAN. Fyodor is of Russian origin meaning "God's gift"; Sigmund is of German origin meaning "victorious protection"; Lisondra is my Mommy's maiden name; and Sebastian is my Daddy's surname.

After church, we got us a small cake to mark the occasion. =)

Friday 26 April 2013

Hello World!

Three (3) weeks ago, I stepped into this big wide world.

I was delivered via LS Caesarian Section on 05 April 2013 at 1248 hours at Mount Alvernia Hospital (Singapore). I was 2980 grams heavy and 53 cm long.

~ well, hello there! ~

Mommy's OB, Dr Ng, wasn't able to do the operation as she was not feeling well that day, so she arranged for another colleague of hers to take care of Mommy and me. At first, Dr Ng asked if we wanted to move my delivery by Monday (08 Apr 2013) so that she can attend herself. But, we cannot wait anymore. Mommy, Daddy and Hendrik wanted to see me already. And so, Dr Dolly Wee operated on Mommy. We read some reviews about this Dr Dolly Wee on our way to the hospital, and we were quite happy with what we read as they were all positive reviews.

Mommy and I stayed in the hospital for 3 days. Family and friends visited and brought presents for us (well, for me mostly ^_^). Apart from Daddy who was with us in the hospital everyday from morning until evening, Hendrik also visited every afternoon. He is a very caring and sweet brother.

~ with Daddy and Mommy on our way home from the hospital ~

Now, I am spending my days and nights at home sleeping most of the time and Mommy breastfeeds me every 2-4 hours.

Nanny Issues

Mommy and I are on our 36th week now. Almost everything is ready for my arrival.

There is one important thing that my family is trying to resolve though – my soon-to-be nanny. Lola will be staying with us until maybe only a week after I come out, and then she needs to be back in the Philippines. She also has things to do and attend there. Actually, Lola’s return to the Philippines has been delayed for 3 months now. I am sorry about it, but Mommy and Daddy are trying their bests to find someone to look after me and my brother while Mommy and Daddy are at work. Mommy will be on maternity leave for 2 months when she has given birth to me, but she also needs help when Lola is not around; more so when she goes back to work after her leave.
My family has encountered a couple of difficulties in their efforts to look for Lola’s replacement in looking after my brother and eventually, me. We tried relatives but to no avail. We had tried Mommy’s contacts who have signified their interests, but would only commit after they know the result / outcome of something that was of priority to them. It was like there were conflicts of interests and that looking after my brother and me was not their main concern. We had also tried a friend’s relative to the point that Mommy and Daddy shouldered the expenses needed for processing of her passport so she can travel to Singapore. We had even waited for almost 2 months for the passport to be released as [we were told that] express or rush passport processing which only takes a week was not available at that time. The reason being was the passport-making machine was spoiled. Now that the passport has been released just last week, they had given us another reason to delay their travel to June! This is not good anymore. After all we’ve done – we promptly provided their financial needs just so they can process the passport and we also patiently waited for it to be released – now they are giving us another reason not to travel yet because they failed to check on something important. Mommy and Daddy decided that we don’t wait and count on them anymore as they don’t have a sense of urgency and they don’t feel the magnitude and importance of having someone to help us especially now that Mommy is giving birth to me in April and that Lola needs to be in the Philippines also.
We have contacted another prospect, and we are really hoping it will work out this time. God willing, we are expecting her to be in Singapore next week…
